The rugged SUV from the stable of Mitsubishi multinational car manufacturer, Mitsubishi Montero Sport 2016 landed on the shores of the Philippines back in January 2016. Since then it has accumulated a lot of love and praise from the domestic Mitsubishi enthusiasts and yes with the quality and character it possesses, this big machine is here to stay.
After its release, it also took stage at the country’s biggest auto fiesta, Manila International Auto Show in April where its splendour took away the breath of the crowd visiting the show.
With the aim to compete against the likes of Toyota Fortuner and Blue Oval’s Everest, the brand has powered it with all the requisites that is already giving a hard time to the rivals.

On the outside, the big machine looks sporty, sturdy and youth-focussed. It features the brand’s new Dynamic Shield Design Concept which gives it an extra bit of safety from the outset. Up front, it has LED headlamps with DRLs, multi-plated chrome grille, door handles and big 18-inch alloy wheels. The sloping roofline looks drooling while the aggressive front and square-shaped pronounced wheel arches add icing on the cake. Available in 7 different colors, it offers people in the Philippines with an array of choices to choose from. Adding to this is the amazing 700 mm water wading capacity which makes it stand tall against all the odds.
Inside, it is loaded with a myriad of comfy as well technology features making it the best in its class and the segment. Features inside include Capacitive Discharge Touchscreen Monitor which also serves as a basis for GPS navigation system.
Adding to this are the six speakers, multi-function steering wheel, multicolor multi-information panel with alerts, push start/stop button and electronically operated ORVMs. The alerts reminds you of the lights, keys and seat belt.
On the mechanical front, it has the same 2.4-litre four-cylinder DOHC Clean Diesel engine with brand’s Electronic Control System. Mingled to a 8-speed automatic gearbox, it carries the ability to churn out a max power of 181 PS at 3500 rpm and a peak torque of 430 Nm at 2500 rpm. The automatic transmission system is only available for the top most trim while the lower variant gets an option of 8-speed manual gearbox in addition to automatic one.
Montero Sport 2016 Price start from PhP 1,500,000, the mid-level variants range between PhP 1,685,000- 1,785,000 and lastly, the top trim is priced at PhP 1,988,000.
