SEAT automotive is actually a subsidiary wholly owned by the German Volkswagen Group, together with Porsche and Audi. SEAT is marketed as a car brand with sporty features. Due to its public demand on its golden years, SEAT was then developed and even gave birth to more subsidiary companies.
By the year of 2000, SEAT company has already reached a production of over 500,000 units and has produced over 16 million cars. Six million from these were made from their plant at Martorell, Spain, and the remaining three-quarters was exported to over 70 countries in the world.
SEAT is actually an acronym which stands for Sociedad Española de Automóviles de Turismo or Spanish Touring Car Company in English. With the initial increase in sales, up until now, SEAT is the only Spanish vehicle company with the ability and the power to develop its own cars inside their own company plant.
A few several facilities run in SEAT’s company plant in Martorell. These include Prototypes Centre of Development, Design Center, SEAT’s Technical Center, Research and Development Center (R&D), SEAT Sport, SEAT Service Center, and the Genuine Parts Centre for Audi, Škoda, and SEAT brands.
Exclusivity to its mother country, The automaker only manufactured cars for Spain for a short period of time, from 1953 to 1965. Only four years after, after dealing with a license with Fiat, This car brand was already then allowed to export their cars in a massive scale to more than a dozen different countries.
